Level of p21 transcript in patient cells expressing wild‐type or mutant RPS19. The increased level of p21 typical of DBA patient cells is corrected by the expression of a wild‐type RPS19 transgene but not by the expression of RPS19 carrying a pathogenic mutation. Results obtained by quantitative RT‐PCR performed on P1 and P2 patient cells were considered biological replicates.
