Prediction of EscR TMDs. Analysis of the EscR sequence for the probability of each amino acid to be localized within the membrane, using the prediction software TMHMM (78). Three clear TMDs (TMDs 1 to 3) were identified, and a fourth, shorter sequence was found to have a high probability to cross the membrane milieu. The sequences of the core TMDs are marked in gray boxes.
