Rhynchophylline greatly activates MEF2 gene transcriptional activity in PC12 cells under both basal and pathological circumstances. (A) PC12 cells transfected with MEF2 luciferase reporter construct were incubated with rhynchophylline (3, 10, 30, 50 μM) for 24 h, then measured using luciferase reporter assay. (B) Transfected PC12 cells were pre-treated for 2 h with rhynchophylline (10, 30, 50 μM), and incubated for 24 h with 2.5 mM MPP⁺.
