The effect of increasing lapse rates on a simulated observer. The effect of increasing lapse rates on the threshold estimates of a simulated observer with a true threshold of .97 °/s. 2,000 simulations were run for each lapse rate and for each of the three procedures (QUEST, staircase, MCS). Thresholds were estimated with identical parameters and exclusion criteria as the experimental data. For each lapse rate, the median threshold estimate is plotted with 95% bootstrapped confidence intervals around the median. PF psychometric function
