(a–d) Results of R-TPM, applied on RBCs presenting morphological anomalies (H<0.9) with respect to the ideal healthy one: (a) one-side concavity, (b) speculated, (c) iron deficiency anemic and (d) thalassemic RBC. For each RBC, we report the QPIs and the mathematical dependence of the defocus coefficient from the rotation angle and the tomogram retrieved by the QPIs and the RI distributions at the z=0 and y=0 planes. ARI, V and CH are also reported together with the plastic 3D representations realized by a 3D printer. The maximum measured standard deviation of the RI obtained by this technique is 0.003.
