Experimental design and treatment regimen. High-fat diet treatment was initiated when the HF mice were 9 weeks of age and continued until they were 24 weeks of age. The animals were then switched to a normal low-fat diet until the end of the study (90 weeks of age). Glucose tolerance assay was performed at 24, 39, and 85 weeks of age.
