RNA binding proteins (RBP) control mRNA stability and translation. Interaction of eIF4G in the eIF4F complex with PABP results in a closed loop model of mRNA translation (see legend Figure 2). Binding of PABPs to the poly(A) tail enhances mRNA stability and translation. A variety of RBP binding to e.g., the cytoplasmic polyadenylation element (CPE), AU-rich Elements (ARE) or other element represented as XX. These RPB interact with polyadenylases or with the CCR4/NOT deadenylating complex.
