Study diagram. Of 478 oesophageal HRM studies, EGJOO was diagnosed in 116 patients; the remaining 362 patients were excluded from analysis. Forty-four of these patients had otherwise normal oesophageal motility, with the only HRM finding being EGJOO; 14 had Chicago Classification (CC) citeria for achalasia, 19 had EGJOO plus CC criteria for IEM, 28 had EGJOO plus DES, and 11 had EGJOO plus IEM and DES. DES, diffuse oesophageal spasm; EGJOO, oesophagogastric junction outflow obstruction; HRM, high-resolution manometry; IEM, ineffective oesophageal motility.
