Comparison of Continuous Outcomes in Individuals with Emphysema Only versus Individuals with Emphysema and Interstitial Features

Note.—Outcomes are expressed as differences between individuals with emphysema and interstitial features compared with those with only emphysema (eg, in patients with both emphysema and interstitial features, the mean 6-minute walk distance was 43.2 meters shorter than in those with emphysema alone). All analyses were adjusted for age, sex, race, clinical center, current smoking status, number of pack-years smoked, body mass index, and percentage predicted forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV₁), except for the spirometric measures, which were not adjusted for percentage predicted FEV1. CI = confidence interval, DLCO = diffusing capacity of lung for carbon monoxide, FVC = forced vital capacity.
