The Growth and Application of the Enzyme Market. Listed are some of the enzyme categories used by industry and the types of industries where the enzymes are widely employed. A PubMed database was searched for the number of publications from 1998 to 2016 in relation to biocatalysis using the following query: (biocatal*[Title/Abstract]). The total value of the enzyme market is also included, from 1998 [32], to 2016 and the onward estimation up until 2021. The calculated trend-lines clearly show an increase in both market value and biocatalysts discovered.
