Effect of precursor concentrations on the PC, PE, and PS biosynthesis pathways in P. falciparum-iRBCs. P. falciparum-iRBCs were incubated 96 h in culture medium supplemented with 10% human serum in the presence of increasing concentrations of Cho-d9 (A), Etn-d4 (B, C), or Ser-d3 (D, E), while the two others labeled precursors remained at fixed concentrations of 20 µM Cho-d9, 10 µM Etn-d4, and 140 µM Ser-d3. After incubation, PLs were quantified by LC/MS/MS. Results are shown as means ± SD (n = 3). The same color code is used for all panels. The insets in A and C represent an enlargement of the graph for PC and PE values from Etn-d4 and/or Ser-d3.
