Breg cells in the neonate. Breg cell frequency is increased in neonates, providing improved tolerance to allogenic antigens (i.e., after cord blood stem cell transplantation). Besides, there is a remarkable increase of IgM expression, which may be a new inhibitory mechanism of Bregs in neonates. Finally, Breg cells inhibit Th1 cell responses, which may be related to the reported low interferon (IFN)-γ production after mycobacterial challenge.
