Human renal mesangial cells were challenged with 5.5 mM glucose, 5.5 mM glucose plus 27.5 mM mannitol as osmotic controls or with 33 mM glucose in the absence and presence of 1–20 μM chrysin. Values of cell viability are mean ± standard error of mean (SEM, n = 5) and expressed as percent cell survival relative to 5.5 mM glucose (cell viability = 100%). Values in bar graphs not sharing a same lower case indicate significant different at p < 0.05.
