Ferulic acid conversion and cinnamic acid sensitivity of PAD1-FDC1 deletion strains. S. eubayanus CBS 12357 (, SePAD1-SeFDC1 / SePAD1-SeFDC1, Pof⁺), IMK747 (, Sepad1-Sefdc1Δ::amdSYM / SePAD1-SeFDC1, Pof⁺) and IMK749 (, Sepad1-Sefdc1Δ::amdSYM / Sepad1-Sefdc1Δ::amdSYM, Pof^-) were grown in SWM-fa in 24-deepwell plates at 20°C. The cultures were sampled regularly and supernatants were analyzed for ferulic (A) and 4-VG (B) concentrations. The same three strains were grown in SWM and SWM-ca in 24-deepwell plates at 20°C. Final optical densities at 660 nm were compared (C). Variation in final optical density between the two conditions was evaluated by Student’s t-test statistics (significance threshold p = 0.01). The data presented show average ± standard deviation of independent triplicate experiments. ^∗ denotes statistically significant differences.
