A schematic model indicating that the axons from the ganglion cells in the superior macula (±8° from the fovea) and maculo-papillary region of the retina (i.e., the upper gray region) enter the temporal quadrant of the disc, while the axons in the rest of the inferior macular region enter in the temporal portion of the inferior quadrant. That is, the latter enter the temporal part of the inferior vulnerability zone (IVZ), that we have called the macular vulnerability zone (MVZ).
