Analysis of the nfuA expression during normal growth and in response to oxidants. PAO1 and various mutant cultures were treated with 0.02% NaOCl, 0.5 mM Plumbagin, 0.5 mM Menadione, 0.5 mM Paraquat, 0.1 mM NEM, 1 mM CuOOH, 1 mM tBOOH, 1 mM H₂O₂, 0.5 mM CuCl₂, 0.5 mM FeCl₃, and 1 mM 2,2’-dipyridyl for 15 min under aerobic conditions. For anaerobic growth conditions, LB supplemented with nitrate (+ KNO₃) was used. RNA extractions and qRT-PCR were performed as described in the Materials and Methods. The data are presented as the means ± SD from three independent experiments. The relative expression was analyzed using the 16S rRNA gene as the normalizing gene and is presented as the fold expression relative to the level of the uninduced condition.
