All feeding stages (larvae, nymphs, and adults) of both species demonstrate highly aggressive host-seeking behavior and a host is often attacked simultaneously by multiple ticks. Both species are distributed across much of southern Africa, including Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe.
