Z-scores of calculated brain volumes. Brain volumes were normalized to the respective scanner-specific control cohort. Z-Scores for all regions were significantly different from zero (p < 0.0001 for all brain regions). Mean z-scores for the thalamus were significantly lower than all other brain volumes (p = 0.0295 for comparison with corpus callosum, p < 0.001 for all other comparisons, ANOVA with Bonferroni correction) in both the relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) and secondary progressive MS (SPMS) patients.
