Primary astrocyte cultures from WT and Par-1 KO mice were pretreated with two doses of thrombin for 24 h and then exposed to oxygen glucose deprivation (OGD) for 3 h. (A) The levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) released into the medium and (B) the percent of dead cells by live/dead cell staining were measured after 24 h of reoxygenation. Values are expressed as means ± SD, #p<0.01 vs. OGD only (0 U/ml thrombin). In (B), astrocytes stained red indicate dead and those green are live. Scale bar = 50 μm.
