MAO-B inhibition reduces ROS accumulation in response to oxidative stress in myoblasts from mdx mice. Myoblasts from mdx and wild-type (wt) mice were incubated for 1 h with (A) H2O2 (100 μM) or (B) tyramine (Tyr, 100 μM) in the absence or in the presence of 1 μM safinamide or 100 μM pargyline (parg). ROS levels were assessed by Mitotracker Red CM-H2XRos (MTR, 25 nM). Data expressed as the MTR fluorescence after 1 h from the addition of H2O2 (or Tyr) were normalized to the values obtained in the absence of stimuli for each sample. Data are the mean ± SEM of three experiments, each using cells originating from different preps. p < 0.05 and ∗∗p < 0.01.
