The lens is displaced into the anterior chamber and adhered to the cornea by fibroblastic strands of connective tissue. A dome-shape mound of bland fibrous connective tissue resides in the adjacent, anterior subscapular region of the lens. Degenerative features in the lens include globular enlargement, fragmentation, and dissolution of lens fibers and collection of eosinophilic fluid.
