Slit2 decreases the deposition of Aβ in the brain parenchyma of aging mice. Expression of (A) Aβ1-40 (magnification, ×100; scale bar=100 µm) in the cortex and hippocampus of the aging brain of Slit2-Tg and WT mice were evaluated by immunofluorescence staining. (B) Mean pixel intensity of Aβ1-40 the cortex. (C) Expression of Aβ1-42 (magnification, ×200, scale bar=200 µm) in the cortex and hippocampus of the aging brain of Slit2-Tg and WT mice were evaluated by immunofluorescence staining. (D) Mean pixel intensity of Aβ1-42 in the cortex. Compared with WT mice, accumulation of Aβ1-40 in the peri-arterial space was significantly decreased in the aging brain parenchyma of Slit2-Tg mice (P<0.001). Compared with WT mice, deposition of Aβ1-42 surrounding nerve cells was significantly decreased in the aging brain parenchyma of Slit2-Tg mice (P<0.01). Each dataset is expressed as the mean ± standard deviation (**P<0.01 and ***P<0.001; n=6 per group). Slit2, slit guidance ligand 2; Tg, transgenic; WT, wild-type; Aβ, amyloid β.
