Effects of menaquinone-4 and rifampicin on mRNA levels of genes involved in bile acid synthesis and energy homeostasis in the liver of wild-type and hPXR mice. Menaquinone-4 (MK-4; 100 mg/kg BW) was given by oral gavage to wild-type (WT) and hPXR female mice. Rifampicin (Rif; 50 mg/kg BW) was given by oral gavage to hPXR female mice. After 6 h, mRNA levels of genes regulating bile acid synthesis (A) and energy homeostasis (B) were measured by quantitative RT-PCR. The relative mRNA levels were normalized to the amount of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1α1 mRNA. Data are expressed as the mean ± SEM, n = 4–5. $ p < 0.01, * p < 0.05, compared to control groups.
