Osteogenic differentiation of anterior cruciate ligament-mesenchymal stem cells (ACL-MSCs) from young and old donors. ACL-MSCs from both age groups showed an increased ALP activity and matrix mineralization (A) without significant differences between age groups or ACL-MSCs and bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) (C, D). A strong increase in ALP expression was detected in both ACL-MSCs from young and old donors, whereas the relative increase in BMSCs was lower due to the presumably high ALP expression in uninduced cells (B).
