Microscopic photograph of the small intestine in the female (A) and male (B) test group of rats and female (C) and male (D) test group of mice that received the repeated dose (100 mg/kg) of the Mentha mozaffarianii essential oil for 28 days. The intestinal villi (V) are part of the mucosa and have simple columnar epithelia. However, in this study, there were no villi (V) in the mucosal layer (B, C, and D).
