Expression levels of each gene were scaled to a mean of 0 and standard deviation of 1. Based on these vectors, hierarchical clustering was performed and eight clusters were identified by visual inspection (A–H). Line plots (left) display the mean expression and standard deviation of all genes per cluster. GO analyses (middle) were performed on each cluster, and terms with an adjusted p < 0.05 are shown. For clarity, more unspecific GO terms with population size >2500 were excluded. Genes, annotated to prominent GO terms, are shown on the right side.
