DL architecture for mitosis detection. A 64 × 64 size patch is extracted at 40× magnification. The patch contains a candidate nucleus, which is fed to the DNN. The DNN is composed of several convolutional neural networks, each followed by nonlinear and pooling operations. At the end, two fully connected layers are used to estimate the probability of a patch containing a mitotic figure.
