FIG 1.
Antiviral activity of favipiravir (FAV) against Zika virus (ZIKV) on HUH-7 cells in a 6-well plate assay and the hollow-fiber infection model (HFIM) system. HUH-7 cells were infected with ZIKV and exposed to increasing concentrations of FAV for 4 days in a 6-well plate assay (A) or 7 days in the HFIM system (B). Cell culture supernatant was collected daily, and the infectious virus burden, reported as the log10 number of PFU per milliliter, was quantified by plaque assay on Vero cells. The symbols correspond to the mean for three independent samples for the 6-well plate assay and two samples for the HFIM system. Lines through the data points signify the predicted viral burden determined by the mathematical model.
