(A) Dependence of IMT (4 μM) fluorescence intensity at 500 nm on a variety of oligonucleotides (8 μM). λex = 415 nm. IMT with G4 (G-quadruplex) DNA, G4 RNA, ss/ds-DNA and ss/ds-RNA were measured in 20 mM Tris–HCl buffer solution (40 mM KCl, pH 7.4); IMT with i-motif DNA were measured in 20 mM Tris–HCl buffer solution (40 mM KCl, pH 5.8). (B) Non-denaturing PAGE images of G4s and non-G4s stained with SYBR Gold (left) and 4 μM IMT (right), respectively. All DNA samples (8 μM) were prepared in 20 mM Tris–HCl (40 mM KCl, pH 7.4). The images were collected on GE Typhoon Trio.
