Fig 5. Effect of inhibition of COX and LOX pathways on villus BBM Na-glutamine co-Transport.

Fig 5

(A) Effect of piroxicam on Na-glutamine co-transport in villus cells BBMV. Na-dependent glutamine uptake was significantly decreased in villus cell BBMV from the chronically inflamed intestine and this inhibition was reversed with in vivo piroxicam treatment. Na-glutamine co-transport was not affected in the normal intestine. (B) Effect of MK886 on Na-glutamine co-transport in villus cells BBMV. Na-dependent glutamine uptake which was significantly decreased in villus cell BBMV from the chronically inflamed intestine and this inhibition was not affected by in vivo MK886 treatment. Na-glutamine co-transport was not affected in the normal intestine.
