All dimeric contacts are mediated through the two chitin hexasaccharides. (B) Superposition of the four CfAvr4 monomers observed in the crystallographic asymmetric unit. The (GlcNAc)6 molecules are shown as stick models. The hexasaccharides line up almost exactly except for GlcNAc-6 on chains B and D, which bend towards the protein. Aligned to chain A, chains B, C, and D have an RMSD of 0.309 Å, 0.099 Å, and 0.265 Å, over 67, 73, and 68 α-carbons, respectively.
