A codiversifying clade within the Bacteroidales contains subtending clades that are unique to and conserved among discrete mammalian orders. The evolutionary history of the OTUs in this codiversifying (parafit; q < 0.05) bacterial clade is illustrated through the upper portion of the cladogram, while the left-hand cladogram relates mammalian lineages as described in the Fig. 2 legend. Black cells in the heat map indicate that the OTU was detected in a particular individual. Two subclades, highlighted in gray, are conserved among and unique to either the Artiodactyla (green) or Primates (blue).
