^aHelicobacter pylori was grown on chocolate agar or in Brucella broth (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, United States) supplemented with 10% horse serum and 1% Vitox (Oxoid, Hants, United Kingdom) in microaerobic environment at 37°C.
