Missouri Medicine announces a new member of our Editorial Board. Board members are selected on the basis of exceptional professional accomplishment and expertise in their specialty.
Michael L. O’Dell, MSHA, MD, FAAFP, MSMA member since 2010, is the new Family Practice member replacing Harold A. Williamson, MD, who served on the board since 2007. Dr. O’Dell is Associate Chief Medical Officer at Truman Medical Center and Professor and Chair of the Department of Community and Family Medicine at the University of Missouri - Kansas City.
Congratulations to these MSMA members, at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, who have recently been certified by MD Anderson Cancer Network: Drs. Kara Braudis, Kristen Fernandez, Nicholas Golda, Jonathan Harrison, Jeffrey Jorgensen, C. Daniel Kingsley, Debra Koivunen, N. Scott Litofsky, Gregory Renner, Steven Westgate, and Robert Zitsch, III. They have been members of MSMA for a total of more than 150 years!
An MSMA member since 2007, Brett Crist, MD, of Columbia, is making cutting-edge achievements with a new surgical technique that improves biological hip joint replacement.
Congratulations to William Dailey, MD, on celebrating the one-year anniversary of his practice in Osceola. MSMA appreciates his member support since 2010.
Phillip Foreman, MD (right), and Erik Meidl, MD, were honored with the Caring Heart Award by the Hannibal Free Clinic. Together, they have been members of MSMA for a total of 60 years.
Donald Kuenzi, MD received the Missouri University Medical School Distinguished Service Award for 2016. Dr. Kuenzi has previously received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Kansas City Medical Society. He is the founder of The Gashland Clinic in Kansas City North.
Raghav Govindarajan, MD, has taken on numerous leadership roles in MSMA and within his specialty since becoming a member in 2013. The work he does with students at UMC is another example of his outstanding service to medicine. He has been honored with the National Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence from the American Medical Student Association.
An MSMA member since 1999, Bhagirath Katbamna, MD, has been unanimously elected as the new Board President of the Northeast Missouri Ambulatory Surgery Center, LLC, and Hannibal Anesthesia Associates, LLC.
MSMA would like to take a moment and recognize Carlyn Kline, MD, of St. Joseph, for the compassionate care she has provided to patients and also to peers, when faced with difficult circumstances. MSMA is extremely fortunate to have her membership support since 1976.
Alan Mead, MD (left), has been named Physician of the Year at Lake Regional Health System. He has been a member since 2001. Presenting the award is Patrick O’Neil, DO, MSMA member since 2014.
James O’Keefe, MD, has been a member of MSMA since 2003. His editorial contributions to readers of Lee’s Summit Tribune are greatly appreciated, as is everything he does for heart health.
An MSMA member since 1987, Pat Smith, MD (left), of Columbia, has earned the honor of being inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
