MYBA activates the promoter of dihydroflavonol 4-reductase. The dihydroflavonol 4-reductase (DFR) promoter sequences from (A) Arabidopsis (pAtDFR), (B) apple (pMdDFR), and (C) blueberry (pVcDFR) were isolated and cloned into dual luciferase reporter constructs. Promoter activation assays were performed by Agrobacterium infiltration of effector and reporter constructs into Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. Combinations of VcMYBA together with either MdbHLH3 from apple or PpbHLH3 from peach were tested. Mean of three biological replicates. Error bars represent ± SEM.
