Study exclusion criteria

Criteria for excluding patients of other diseases
Hemoglobin A1c	>10.0%
Hemoglobin	<10.0 g/dL
Congestive heart failure	Class III or IV
Blood pressure	>170/105
Liver function test	>2.5 (upper limits of normal)
Glomerular filtration rate	<30 mL/min
Criteria for excluding celiac disease	Possible CD diagnosis
Tissue transglutaminase antibody IgG, serum	≥6 U/mL
Tissue transglutaminase antibody IgA, serum	≥4 U/mL
Gliadin antibody IgG	≥20 U/mL
Gliadin antibody IgA	≥20 U/mL

Subjects who fulfilled any of the criteria described here were excluded from this study. Subjects diagnosed with other diseases or possible celiac disease were excluded
