For many patients, YF will resolve during the phase of remission (unshaded region between the aforementioned phases), and it is estimated that 12% of patients will enter the period of intoxication. YFV RNA may be detectable in urine into early convalescence, although sensitivity of detection is unknown. Duration of viremia has been variable and may extend past the identified time period in severe cases.
