Table 3.

Influence of aggression received by oestrous females from the female friends of a male throughout their oestrus periods on the probability of conceiving with this male subsequently. (Parameters and tests are based on 51 oestrous cycles (out of which 20 were conceptive) distributed among 29 focal oestrous females and 18 males. GLMMs control for focal female and male identity (fitted as random factors). The confidence interval (CI) and p-value of statistically significant results are highlighted in italics. s.e., standard error; LRT, statistic of a likelihood ratio test; d.f., degrees of freedom.)

aAggression has been calculated as the number of aggressive interactions that the focal female received throughout her oestrus period divided by the corresponding observation time.
