Survival probability of hypermetabolic versus normometabolic patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) relative to time of metabolic assessment. Crude Kaplan-Meier curves during the course of 30 months for the hypermetabolic and normometabolic patients. Hypermetabolic patients had significantly worse survival (log-rank p=0.02, HR 3.2, 95% CI 1.1 to 9.4).
