Measurement of malic acid in root exudates.
Root exudates were extracted from 10-d-old seedlings grown in RG medium including 1 mM of KNO3, 1 mM NH4Cl, 1 mM NH4Cl+100 mM MES, or without nitrogen (control) without an inoculation (−) or inoculated (+) with B510. Malic acid concentrations were quantified by HPLC. The experiment was repeated three times with similar results.
