The sNOOOpy system consist of two FP-fusion constructs, CFP-NasT and NasS-YFP, which interact in the absence of NO3−/NO2− yielding high FRET (left panel). Upon binding of either NO3− or NO2− to the NasS domain the heterodimer falls apart resulting in reduced FRET (right panel).
