Spectra for the family of eight DNA duplexes acquired at 0°C are designated by their respective acronyms and color‐coded as indicated. Damaged duplexes harboring a single AP‐site in the top strand (FCC/GGG, CFC/GGG, and CCF/GGG) are characterized by ellipticity maxima at ∼280 nm, while a modest blue shift is observed for duplexes containing an abasic site in the bottom strand (CCC/GFG, FCC/GFG, CFC/GFG, and CCF/GFG)
