The plants were grown for 15 days after sowing under HL-conditions (PFD = 300 μmol m-2 s-1) in the long-day. Pigment and protein contents are expressed on a leaf area basis. The specific leaf fresh weight allows a conversion from a leaf area to a leaf weight basis. For the Chl a/b ratios Chl a and b were determined separately and the quotient calculated for each replicate. The data represent the mean ± SE of n = 4 to 20 replicates. For Chl and carotenoid contents of HL-grown amiRNA XPT tpt-2 lines the number of replicates was lower (n = 2 to 3). A statistical analysis of the data is contained in Doc S2, Table 3.
