Figure 3. — Cleavage of C4b by various concentrations of Mep1p. A, human C4b (3 μg) was incubated with the graded concentrations (1100 to 9 nm) of Mep1p in Tris buffer for 60 min at 37 °C, and cleavage products were resolved on 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions and stained with Coomassie Blue. B, graphical representation of the amount of various C4b chains remained (quantitated by densitometry) after incubation with graded concentrations of Mep1p. Data were normalized by considering the uncleaved protein chains as 100%. Molecular weights: C4b α′-chain, 88,000; C4b β-chain, 75,000; C4b γ-chain, 33,000.
