Viability of A549 (A), H358 (B), and BEAS-2B (C) cells was determined following a 48-h incubation with vehicle or the indicated concentrations of cisplatin in serum-free DMEM using the WST-1 assay. Images at the upper right side depict A549 cells after a 48-h treatment with cisplatin. Percentage of control represents comparison with vehicle-treated cells (set as 100%) in the absence of cisplatin. Values are the mean ± SEM of n = 18-20 (A, B) or n = 21 (C). **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001 vs. corresponding vehicle control, one-way ANOVA plus a post-hoc Dunnett test.
