Promoter CpG sites in the five candidate genes were hypomethylated in endothelial colony forming cells (ECFCs) from patients with moyamoya disease (MMD). The DNA methylation status within the promoter region was analyzed using bisulfite sequencing polymerase chain reaction. Each circle represents CpG dinucleotides. The methylation status of each CpG site is denoted by black (methylated) or white (unmethylated) circles. Stars above the circles indicate the differentially methylated CpG sites in ECFCs, as revealed by DNA methylation microarray analysis.
