Electron microscopy in situ hybridization for EBERs in exosomes. Exosomes were fixed overnight in 4% paraformaldehyde and electron microscopy in situ hybridization was performed using 10 nm gold labelled secondary antibody. EBER staining was observed in EBV infected cells (B95.8 and BL30-B95.8) (a–f), but not in non-infected cells (BL30) (g–i). EBER staining was clearly localized to the exosomes. Scale bar = 100 nm.
