Response of E. huxleyi to a diverse range of organohalogens. The inhibitory concentrations (IC₅₀) for E. huxleyi when exposed to seven different halogenated compounds for 72 h. The IC₅₀ for 2,3,4-tribromo-5-(3,5-dibromo-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1H-pyrrole (hashtag) was 1.35 ± 1.71 nM and not visible in relation to the IC50′s of the other compounds shown in the bar graph. No reduction in growth was observed for E. huxleyi cells when exposed to 2,3,3′,4,4′,5,5′-heptabromo-1′-methyl-1,2′-bipyrrole. Each bar represents the mean of three independent replications ± the standard deviation.
