Targeting TrxR inhibits growth of liver cancer cells. (A) HepG2 and (B) Hepa1-6 cells were treated with designated concentrations of AA1 for 24 or 48 h and cell viability was determined using the MTT assay. Following treatment with AA1, the activity of TrxR in (C) HepG2 and (D) Hepa1-6 cells was tested using a 3-carboxy-4-nitrophenyl disulfide assay and measuring absorbance at 420 nm. Data are expressed as the mean ± standard deviation from at least three independent experiments. *P<0.05 and **P<0.01.
