Impact of initial need for parenteral nutrition. For patients initially on daily parenteral support, reduction of intravenous fluids and calories was statistically significant after treatment over 12 months. In patients initially needing 1–4 days of parenteral support per week, reduction of intravenous calories was significant after 48 weeks but not after over a year of treatment.
